Fresh, Hopeful Art Patterns with a
Nostalgic Connection to the Past

"Modernists may look at a nostalgic as ... weak, no vision, no dreams, stuck in the past. In fact, ... a nostalgic gathers strength from the past to move forward and create. After all, nostalgia is more about the future than the past." - Dr. Larry Len Peterson, Edward S. Curtis, Printing the Legends, p. 2.
About Lila:
I've been doodling since childhood but was insecure about my unrealistic style. I chose to pursue a writing career because I felt I was better with words. While I enjoyed the creativity of crafting words into sentences and stories, especially fiction, it was always energy-depleting. After blogging and self-publishing six books, I felt in my soul that I needed a change. My relationship with Jesus is very important to me, and I believe He showed me that I was using writing to hide my passion for visual art.
So here I am, energized and giddy with excitement when I get to create visual art! I'm hoping to share the hope and joy of my faith with every pattern, though not all are overtly Christian. My style is Nostalgic Retro, playful, whimsical, and kitschy, with a signature palette that almost always includes shades of the 3 P's: Purple, Pink, and/or Peach. ;)
I love acrylic paints and mixed media for my personal art journaling, but I usually start a pattern with a doodle in black marker (Tombow Fudenosuke is my favorite) and then digitalize and colorize it in Adobe Illustrator.
I'm inspired by God's gorgeous nature, childhood memories of mountains in Idaho, dreams of unicorns and rainbows, and the hope of Jesus. Color is paramount to me!
Art directors and creative directors who want new art will take advantage of the opportunity I give them to comfort and inspire their customers in a hopeful way with home interiors and home textiles (especially in children's bedrooms, living rooms, and craft rooms). I also am interested in the illustration market, in magazines or children's books.
